PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – Our giant flag known as “Big Betsy” was destroyed by an unexpected micro-burst on the night of July 4, 2019. A healing mission was quickly assembled and “the Major” from the North Ogden chapter was deployed in Betsy’s place. The Major finished out the week in Pleasant Grove.
LOGAN, Utah – Follow the Flag North Ogden began Healing Flight 2 by heading to Logan, UT to hang “Baby Betsy” in the heart of the town to show support and healing for the tragic loss of Elizabeth Shelley, or “Lizzy”. The flag was lowered from the edges of the only building in town that was large enough for even the small flag. As the good people of Logan drove down Main Street, many were touched as the symbol of unity and freedom graced downtown. The message we want to send during these healing missions is that we are all in this together and no one needs to carry the burden alone. United we stand.
June 6, 1979 ~ November 3, 2018 — Army Major Brent Russell Taylor, age 39, was killed in action on November 3, 2018, while training an Afghan Army commando battalion, near Kabul, Afghanistan. He loved his fellow American soldiers, his NATO colleagues and the Afghan people.
NORTH OGDEN, Utah – The tragic passing of the Mayor of North Ogden City left the community broken-hearted when Maj. Brent Taylor was killed in Afghanistan on Nov 3rd, 2018. Kirk Chugg and Josh Johnson reached out to Kyle Fox at Follow the Flag. He took Big Betsy to North Ogden for a secret mission that would in turn heal the broken hearts of many and become the first healing flight. The affects of the flag on the community of North Ogden led to what would become the first chapter of the organization.
PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – A widow from Texas reached out to social media to help track down her late husbands car that was sold after he passed in Afghanistan in 2003. The car was found here in Utah by Kyle Fox and a fundraiser began to purchase the car, restore it, and return it back to the son of fallen First Lt. Jonathan Rozier, in Texas.
