Kirk Takeshi Fuchigami Jr. was called back home doing what he loved: serving his country and flying helicopters. He was born July 14, 1994, and passed away Nov. 20, 2019, while providing security for U.S. ground troops in Afghanistan.
TUCSON, Arizona – Follow the Flag deployed to Tucson, AZ for Healing Flight 5 for the families of the La Mora massacre. Kyle Fox and Brent Jensen began the mission by flying to Tucson to scout for a proper canyon to deploy one of our large flags known as “Baby Betsy”.
Sergeant First Class Elliott Jerome Robbins, 31, born on August 18, 1987, in La Jolla, California, passed away on June 30, 2019 in Afghanistan after serving in the Army for 13 years. His death came as a shock and surprise to many. His untimely death happened the week before the fourth of July. Follow the Flag dedicated its efforts in the North Ogden Cherry Days Parade to the family of SFC Robbins carrying Elliott’s picture with us as we made our way down Washington Blvd.
LOGAN, Utah – Follow the Flag North Ogden began Healing Flight 2 by heading to Logan, UT to hang “Baby Betsy” in the heart of the town to show support and healing for the tragic loss of Elizabeth Shelley, or “Lizzy”. The flag was lowered from the edges of the only building in town that was large enough for even the small flag. As the good people of Logan drove down Main Street, many were touched as the symbol of unity and freedom graced downtown. The message we want to send during these healing missions is that we are all in this together and no one needs to carry the burden alone. United we stand.
June 6, 1979 ~ November 3, 2018 — Army Major Brent Russell Taylor, age 39, was killed in action on November 3, 2018, while training an Afghan Army commando battalion, near Kabul, Afghanistan. He loved his fellow American soldiers, his NATO colleagues and the Afghan people.
NORTH OGDEN, Utah – The tragic passing of the Mayor of North Ogden City left the community broken-hearted when Maj. Brent Taylor was killed in Afghanistan on Nov 3rd, 2018. Kirk Chugg and Josh Johnson reached out to Kyle Fox at Follow the Flag. He took Big Betsy to North Ogden for a secret mission that would in turn heal the broken hearts of many and become the first healing flight. The affects of the flag on the community of North Ogden led to what would become the first chapter of the organization.
